Why did you create this web site?

The purpose of this web site is to provide a place for former Dulles students to regain contact with each other.  Dulles High School once had a page on their web site which provided access to former students, but due to a lack of file space and time, could no longer provide this access.  While helping organize a class reunion in late 2002, I chose to pick up where Ft. Bend ISD and Dulles had dropped off.  Today I have complete class lists for all 47 graduating classes and will be adding the class of 2007 soon.  That's over 20,000 alumni and of that 20,000+, over 4,000 are listed as in contact or deceased.

My name is listed but I never contacted this site.  Where did you get my name?

All class lists were taken from yearbooks, graduation programs and alumni submissions.  If you've never contacted this site but are listed anyway, your name was either taken from a yearbook, graduation program or was submitted by one of your classmates.

How do I add my name or change my status to "in contact"?

Every class list has a submissions link at the top of the page.  Click on this link and follow the directions.  Once I receive your submission, I will update it as soon as possible.

Some names have email links and some don't.  Why?

A link to your email address is optional.  If you want email contact from others, all you have to do is enter "yes" in the appropriate box on the submission form.  I do not provide email links unless I'm given permission to do so.  If you want a link, be sure you've given me permission to do so.

I didn't graduate from Dulles but I did attend Dulles at one time.  May I be listed?

Yes you may.   All former students are welcome to be listed on JFD Alumni.  Please mark on the submission form whether you graduated from Dulles or elsewhere so I can list you as "graduated elsewhere" on your class's page.

One of my classmates has passed away.  How do I submit this information?

Contact me at alumni@jfdullesalumni.org.  Be sure to provide the student's name, the year he or she graduated (or would have graduated), and, if possible, the date the student passed away.  I get a lot of spam so be sure to put something like "Death of student" on the subject line, or my spam filter might filter out your message.

Why are the names listed in different colors?

I could have provided separate pages for students that are "in contact", "out of contact" and those that are deceased, but chose to save time and space by placing them all together.    Each color indicates a student's status: dark blue text for "in contact", gray text for "out of contact", and green text for students who are deceased.  Students who are now married will have their maiden names presented in italics.   Any name that is underlined is a link to that person's email address.  Just click on that name to send them a message.  Please note that there is a legend on every class's page to explain the colors as well as other important items.

Do you contact alumni after they've submitted their information?

I used to, but now I only contact alumni if there is a problem with their submissions and only if their email address is correct, so make sure the email address you provide is correct.

What is the function of this web site concerning reunions?

I post reunion announcements and provide some information to the proper reunion organizers, but little else.  I just don't have the time to search for lost alumni or to do student contacts for reunion organizers and I will not give them your personal information unless I have your permission.

Is the Dulles alumni message forum on Yahoo affiliated with this site?

No.  The Dulles Alumni message forum on Yahoo is hosted by another alum, Casey Lartigue.  As a courtesy to Casey, I've provided a link to his forum so that you can have yet another way to contact your classmates.

Is there a Dulles alumni association?

No, not unless one has been created recently.  I'm just an alum that chose to pick up where Ft. Bend ISD dropped off when they closed their Dulles alumni pages in 2002.

Is this page affiliated with Dulles high school or Ft. Bend ISD?

No. I am the owner and sole operator of this web site and other than some of the information passed on to me by Ft. Bend ISD, when I created this site, I've had no assistance from either Dulles High School or Ft. Bend ISD (though I'd appreciate any and all input from either).

How secure is the information I submit to this site?

I do not pass on any personal information unless I'm given permission to do so.  If you do not have a link and somebody asks for your email address, I will ask you first.  The same goes for your address and telephone number.  Though no computer is 100% safe, I'm paranoid enough to have several anti virus, firewall and anti spyware programs and I use them each and every day that I'm on my computer.

I've been getting ads in my email using this web site's email address.  Are they real?

Unfortunately some people don't update their virus programs often enough or don't use any at all, so their computers have become infected.  Many viruses will gather email addresses from these infected computers and use these addresses when they post spam (ads) and infected email.

Note: I do not send out ads or promotions from this site (or my personal email account).  I do post announcements for class reunions.  The closest I come to promoting another company is by providing the name of the company that may be organizing a class reunion.

Some alumni sites charge money for some features.  Does this web site do the same?

No.  The only person shelling out money for this web site is me.  Compliments are the only pay I get and they're greatly appreciated.

I made a submission several days ago but no change in my status yet.  What's up?

Sometimes I'm unable to handle submissions in a timely manner.  When this happens I usually post an announcement on this site's main page.  If you do not see a change in your status 14 days after making your submission, contact me at alumni@jfdullesalumni.org.  Your email may have been lost or your submission may have had an error and I was not able to contact you about it..
